Collegiate Academy offers a diversity of enrichment programs designed to support academic achievement and individual student development.

Collegiate Career Academy

The Career Academy has two purposes. First, it fulfill Collegiate’s mission to provide multiple pathways toward achievement for all students. Second, the program’s courses better prepare students for college success and a competitive workforce. Comprised of three focus areas – Arts and Communications, Engineering and Technology, and Health and Human Services – the Career Academy offers more than 40 courses designed to build real-world knowledge and leadership skills. Leadership, Character & Justice Program

Under the leadership of 21-year military veteran and retired State Trooper Kem Cooper, Collegiate’s Leadership, Character and Justice program exposes ninth through 12th grade students to law and public safety professions while preparing them as leaders who understand responsibility, pride and public service.

Robotics Program

Sponsored by NASA and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), the robotics program encourages students to explore careers in technology and engineering. During the school year, the robotics team — the RoboKnights — participate in a number of prestigious competitions including the multinational FIRST Robotics Competition. In 2006, the team won first place in the NSBE West Point Bridge Design competition, sponsored a student ambassador to Istanbul, Turkey and visited Carnegie Mellon University among other activities.

Friendship News Network

Collegiate Academy is one of two campus bureaus for the Friendship News Network (FNN), a year-round after-school and summer journalism program for high school and middle school students. With the guidance of professional artist and journalists, students work collaboratively in teams to create their own magazine, website, television and radio shows.
