The Education

Tech Prep's goal is to help students become masterful at acquiring knowledge and putting it to use. Tech Prep will teach the most current technologies through a standards-driven, project-based curriculum that will engender a sense of confidence in students and point them on the path of entrepreneurship. Through project-based learning, Friendship's young men and women will work on complex real world situations and will develop rigorous academic discipline through internships, mandatory summer programs before and after 9th grade, and the experience of defending their senior projects before college faculty and business leaders.

Tech Prep will become one of approximately 150 early college programs nationwide, allowing students to graduate from high school with up to 60 college credits or an associate degree. It will join Friendship's Collegiate Academy as one of the only two high schools in the District of Columbia that provides an early college experience.

Every student in 11th and 12th grade will be dual enrolled at Tech Prep and in college, at no cost to themselves – earning both a high school diploma and either credits towards a bachelor’s degree or, if they choose to explore the world prior to college, an associate degree or a certificate that meets industry standards.
