Athletics
Woodridge offers a variety of athletic and wellness programs. Both girls and boys in grades kindergarten to eight benefit from 45 minutes of physical education (PE) activity daily. Woodridge also offers co-ed basketball teams, cheerleading squads and an award-winning step team. Through the Butterflies and Joey program, Woodridge works with students and parents to promote healthy eating habits and positive self-images. Other wellness partners include the Joy of Sports Foundation and First Tee of Washington, D.C.
Butterflies & Joey Program
Under the prescription of a physician and supervision of a licensed nurse, the Butterflies and Joey program addresses obesity and educates parents on nutrition, exercise, weight, and blood pressure. Butterflies, the female weight management program, and Joey, the male weight management program, teaches children the importance of taking responsibility for their bodies at an early age. Students participate twice a week with at least 60 minutes of extra physical activity. Nutrition and counseling services are provided once a month.
