Friendship Public Charter School is currently seeking a Social Studies Teacher for the 2007-2008 Academic year. Required Qualifications

    • The belief that all children can achieve proficiency
    • Certified in D.C. or “highly qualified” as defined by No Child Left Behind (NCLB) guidelines
    • B.A. or M.A./M.S. in content area
    • Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0
    • At least two years of successful teaching experience in the appropriate content area
    • Skilled at integrating technology with daily instruction
    • Ability to contribute to the educational program by coaching a team or advising a club
    • Ability to work in a team environment
    Responsibilities
    • Communicate knowledge to students in an interesting, stimulating, and effective manner
    • Design short and long range standards-based instructional plans
    • Use a variety of instructional methodologies and curriculum resources to ensure student achievement.
    • Administer reliable student assessments, frequently communicating with parents and other team members about student progress in order to foster instructional support.
    • Engage in shared planning regarding district-wide academic targets.
    • Be reflective about teaching practices and act as a coach for team members when necessary.
    • Integrate technology into teaching and professional activities.
    • Actively participate in opportunities for professional growth including on-site professional development meetings, team meetings, mentoring and coaching and accessing outside professional opportunities.
