Friendship Public Charter School is currently seeking a 6th Grade Teacher for the 2007-2008 Academic year. Required Qualifications
- The belief that all children can achieve proficiency
- Certified in D.C. or “highly qualified” as defined by No Child Left Behind (NCLB) guidelines
- B.A. or M.A./M.S. in content area
- Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0
- At least two years of successful teaching experience in the appropriate content area
- Skilled at integrating technology with daily instruction
- Ability to contribute to the educational program by coaching a team or advising a club
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Communicate knowledge to students in an interesting, stimulating, and effective manner
- Design short and long range standards-based instructional plans
- Use a variety of instructional methodologies and curriculum resources to ensure student achievement.
- Administer reliable student assessments, frequently communicating with parents and other team members about student progress in order to foster instructional support.
- Engage in shared planning regarding district-wide academic targets.
- Be reflective about teaching practices and act as a coach for team members when necessary.
- Integrate technology into teaching and professional activities.
- Actively participate in opportunities for professional growth including on-site professional development meetings, team meetings, mentoring and coaching and accessing outside professional opportunities.
